Why Living in Arizona Urges Luxury
Luxury has been something that many write off as unattainable or financially impossible. While it may be more difficult in expensive cities like NYC, San Francisco, or Hawaii, the cost of living and cultural growth of Arizona not only allows for comfort, it is encouraged. Aside from the awe-inspiring wonder of the Grand Canyon, there are a myriad of hidden gems scattered throughout the state.
Weather
Outside of summer, Arizona boasts nine months of clear skies, cool winds, and some of the most picturesque pastel-colored sunsets in the world. With all this beautiful weather, residents or vacationers spend a good deal of time outside entertaining guests, going for hikes, eating at delectable restaurants, or simply conversing with a friend in the park. When the sun is out (which it is about 360 days per year) everyone is encouraged to be out and about. If you are contemplating a second home, Arizona can gently remind you that while most of the United States is buckling down for snow and rain, residents here are shedding jackets for margaritas and outdoor games.
Vehicles
After living in Hawaii for a few years, I realized just how crucial weather conditions are if you hope to keep your vehicle in pristine condition. The humidity and salt air tore through a new paint job in just under a year, sending my vehicle downhill in terms of value and aesthetics. Meanwhile, living in Arizona means that not only will you have no trouble keeping paint and upholstery impeccable, but you will also have an armada of car shows and inspiration to uphold. Similar to the booming food scene in AZ, the constant celebration of powerful and classic cars permeates the state. Whether you are experienced in the art of car preservation or someone who enjoys witnessing the impressive craft of vehicle creation, there is a perfect show for you.
Food Scene
Innovative recipes, handcrafted cocktails, carefully chosen environments. These are just the tip of the iceberg (or cactus) when it comes to Arizona’s ever-evolving food scene. Too many exciting restaurants are popping up all over Phoenix and Scottsdale to simply list them all here (don’t worry, we’ll dedicate an entire blog to that). With that said, here are three unique stars to give you a teaser of what is in store for all those who embrace AZ.
Beverly on Main
Arguably the most chic and well-crafted eateries in all of Arizona, this Scottsdale gem is an original lounge that makes you feel earnestly welcome and desired. From top shelf alcohols (I for one am a huge fan of their extensive whiskey collection) to delicious sharable bites and prohibition style decor, Beverly on Main invites you into an elegant world that you may never want to leave.
O.H.S.O
Breweries that pay homage to warm weather, being a little active and of course, tasty beer are aplenty in AZ. However, no one does it quite like O.H.S.O. when it comes to crowd pleasing. There is truly something for every type of connoisseur when it comes to their in-house distilled spirits, craft beer, and elevated pub fare. Looking for a relaxed, friendly vibe and a few brews? O.H.S.O. has you covered.
Fox Restaurant Concepts
If you have ever lived in or even visited AZ, chances are you've eaten at a Fox Concept Restaurant. There is a laundry list of spots under Sam Fox's empire that cater to various audiences, such as Culinary Dropout and Blanco, but 'll leave the dining preferences up to you. One pro-tip that I will leave you with is order the Soft Pretzels and Provolone Fondue at Culinary Dropout. Beware though, those things might ruin soft pretzels anywhere else for the rest of your days.
Cost of Living
In order to make all of the above enticements financially possible, it's important to understand just how affordable living and owning a home in Arizona is. Comparing the costs to its California neighbor, basic products and services of daily living are about 30% cheaper on average. Saving this large chunk of weekly change (think groceries, gas, standard of living expenses) could mean the difference between staying home for date night or exploring what your city has to offer.
On a personal note, I was able to save a substantial sum of money over just one year living in AZ working as a restaurant manager. This does not mean that I shirked away from road trips to national parks, a jaunt out to the pacific ocean, or developing a keen taste for the mixology scene of Scottsdale. Arizona is unique among the 50 states in this country due to the ease at which its residents live healthy and productive lifestyles, while still understanding what it means to have a great time!
